Meet Franzi
From Van Life to Interior Design

Alright, grab a coffee (or wine, no judgment) because I’m about to spill the tea on my somewhat chaotic journey into interior design. Spoiler alert: it involves childhood furniture-shuffling obsessions and living in a van. Yes, really.
Picture tiny me, perpetually rearranging my bedroom furniture like some pint-sized design dictator. While other kids were playing video games, I was conducting serious experiments in spatial dynamics (fancy talk for “moving my bed for the millionth time”). Not exactly your typical childhood hobby, but hey, at least I got my exercise!
Then came my first gig: window display designer at Mom’s Shop™. Sure, the pay was terrible (read: nonexistent), but the creative freedom? Priceless. There I was, armed with whatever random props we had lying around, somehow turning budget constraints into “creative challenges.” Spoiler: necessity really is the mother of invention, especially when you’re working with last season’s mannequins.
Fast forward to my rental years – aka my crash course in “How to Make Temporary Spaces Not Suck.” Let me tell you, nothing tests your creativity quite like trying to inject personality into a beige box with landlord-approved methods. I became the MacGyver of interior design, armed with removable wallpaper and a stubborn determination to make even the most soulless apartment feel like home.
But here’s where it gets interesting (or crazy, depending on who you ask): I spent five years living in a van. Yes, you read that right. Talk about extreme space optimization! Try fitting a functional living space into something smaller than most people’s closets. It’s like playing Tetris, but with furniture and your entire life.
Now that I’ve graduated to a proper house (with actual walls!), I’m like a kid in a candy store – if that kid spent years dreaming about paint swatches and textile combinations. I’m talking bold colors that would make my van-dwelling self dizzy and pattern mixing that would scandalize the minimalism police.
Here’s the real talk: whether I’m doling out design advice or helping clients transform their spaces, I’m not just bringing my design expertise to the table – I’m bringing every weird, wonderful lesson from my journey. Because let’s be honest, anyone can make a pretty room. But making a space that actually works for real life? That takes someone who’s lived in a van and lived to tell the tale.
